+Úlcera péptica é definida como uma solução de continuidade na mucosa do trato gastrointestinal como resultado dos efeitos cáusticos de ácido e pepsina no lúmen. A úlcera péptica pode se desenvolver em qualquer parte do trato gastrointestinal exposta a ácido e pepsina. As localizações mais comuns são o estômago e o bulbo duodenal, mas a úlcera péptica também pode se desenvolver no esôfago em doenças do refluxo gastroesofágico e no íleo distal como resultado de um divertículo de Meckel revestido por mucosa gástrica heterotópica.

A peptic ulcer may develop in any part of the gastrointestinal tract exposed to acid and pepsin. The most common locations are the stomach and duodenal bulb, but peptic ulcer may also develop in the oesophagus in gastro-oesophageal reflux diseases, and in the distal ileum as a result of a Meckel’s diverticulum lined with heterotopic gastric mucosa.

Peptic ulcer is defined as a distinct breach in the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract as a result of caustic effects of acid and pepsin in the lumen. A peptic ulcer may develop in any part of the gastrointestinal tract exposed to acid and pepsin. The most common locations are the stomach and duodenal bulb, but peptic ulcer may also develop in the oesophagus in gastro-oesophageal reflux diseases, and in the distal ileum as a result of a Meckel’s diverticulum lined with heterotopic gastric mucosa.
