They are usually superficial erosions but can develop into ulcers. Stress ulcers of stomach are acute mucosal lesions occurring in critically ill patients that may result in acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding. They are usually superficial erosions but can develop into ulcers. Stress ulcers of stomach may develop anywhere within the stomach but are more likely to occur in fundic mucosa, which lines the body and fundus of the stomach.
