A anodontia é uma alteração genética comumente definida como ausência de todos os dentes, afetando a dentição decídua (temporária) e a dentição permanente. É extremamente raro ser identificada em uma forma pura, sem estar associada a qualquer outra anormalidade. A hipodontia também é rara, mas é mais comum do que a anodontia completa.
