Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), a subtype of stroke, is a condition whereby a haematoma is formed within the brain parenchyma with or without blood extension into the ventricles. This category refers to nontraumatic intracerebral hemorrhage. Non-traumatic ICH can be divided into primary and secondary, where primary bleeds account for 85% of all ICH and are related to chronic hypertension or amyloid angiopathy. Secondary hemorrhage is considered to be related but not limited to bleeding diathesis, vascular malformations, neoplasms, or hemorrhagic conversion of an ischaemic stroke. Non-traumatic ICH comprises 10-15% of all strokes and is associated with high morbidity and mortality.
