+Otite externa maligna é uma rara complicação infecciosa com risco de vida da otite externa. Na maioria dos casos é devida a Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Organismos penetram a partir do canal auditivo externo nos tecidos mais profundos circundantes, resultando em osteomielite do osso temporal e risco de danos aos nervos cranianos adjacentes e de tromboembolia séptica no cérebro. Idade avançada, diabetes mellitus não controlado e imunossupressão são fatores de risco.

Advanced age, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and immunosuppression are risk factors.
