A neuralgia do trigêmeo é uma manifestação de dor neuropática orofacial restrita a uma ou mais divisões do nervo trigêmeo. A dor é recorrente, de início e término abruptos, desencadeada por estímulos inócuos e normalmente comparada a um choque elétrico ou descrita como a sensação de um tiro ou punhalada. Alguns pacientes relatam sentir dor contínua entre esses paroxismos dolorosos.

Trigeminal neuralgia is a manifestation of orofacial neuropathic pain restricted to one or more divisions of the trigeminal nerve. The pain is recurrent, abrupt in onset and termination, triggered by innocuous stimuli and typically compared to an electric shock or described as shooting or stabbing. Some patients experience continuous pain between these painful paroxysms.
