Transtorno de ritmo sono-vigília irregular é caracterizado pela ausência de um ciclo sono e vigília claramente definido. O sono fica distribuído em episódios múltiplos de duração variável por todo o período de 24 horas. Os pacientes queixam-se tipicamente de insônia e/ou sonolência diurna excessiva como resultado da condição.
