Na fraqueza AMS tipo 4, ocorre mais comumente após os 35 anos de idade (menos comumente entre 18 e 35 anos). A fraqueza dos músculos proximais é mais proeminente nas pernas do que nos braços. Início insidioso e progressão muito lenta são os traços característicos, e a expectativa de vida é normal.
