Transtorno do desenvolvimento da aprendizagem é caracterizado por dificuldades significativas e persistentes na aprendizagem de habilidades acadêmicas, que podem incluir a leitura, escrita ou aritmética. O desempenho do indivíduo na(s) habilidades(s) acadêmica(s) afetada(s) é marcantemente inferior ao esperado para a idade cronológica e o nível geral de funcionalidade intelectual, e resulta em comprometimento significativo na funcionalidade acadêmica ou ocupacional do indivíduo. O transtorno do desenvolvimento da aprendizagem se manifesta inicialmente quando habilidades acadêmicas são ensinadas durante os primeiros anos escolares. O transtorno do desenvolvimento da aprendizagem não se deve a transtorno do desenvolvimento intelectual, deficiência sensorial (visão ou audição), transtorno neurológico ou motor, indisponibilidade de educação, falta de proficiência na língua de instrução acadêmica, ou adversidade psicossocial. | |||||||||||||||
