Transtornos decorrentes do uso de estimulantes, incluindo anfetaminas, metanfetamina ou metcatinona são caracterizados pelo padrão e pelas consequências do uso dessas substâncias. Há uma ampla gama de psicoestimulantes na natureza ou produzidos sinteticamente diferentes da cocaína. As mais numerosas desse grupo são substâncias do tipo anfetamina, incluindo a metanfetamina. Estimulantes prescritos, incluindo a dexanfetamina são indicados para um número limitado de condições, como o transtorno de déficit de atenção e hiperatividade. A metcatinona, conhecida em muitos países como efedrona, é um estimulante sintético potente que é um análogo estrutural da metanfetamina e está relacionada à catinona. Todas essas drogas têm primariamente propriedades psicoestimulantes, e são também vasoconstritoras em graus variáveis. Elas induzem euforia e hiperatividade, como podem ser observadas na intoxicação por estimulantes. Têm propriedades geradoras de dependência potentes, o que pode levar ao diagnóstico de dependência de estimulantes e abstinência de estimulantes após a cessação do uso. There is a wide array of naturally occurring and synthetically produced psychostimulants other than cocaine. The most numerous of this group are the amphetamine-type substances, including methamphetamine. Prescribed stimulants including dexamphetamine are indicated for a limited number of conditions such as for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Methcathinone, known in many countries as ephedrone, is a synthetic potent stimulant that is a structural analogue of methamphetamine and is related to cathinone. All these drugs have primarily psychostimulant properties and are also vasoconstrictors to a varying degree. They induce euphoria and hyperactivity as may be seen in Stimulant Intoxication. They have potent dependence-producing properties, which may lead to the diagnosis of Stimulant Dependence and Stimulant Withdrawal following the cessation of use.
