Transtorno psicótico induzido por álcool com alucinações é caracterizado pela presença de alucinações que são consideradas como consequência direta do uso de álcool. Nem delírios, nem outros sintomas psicóticos estão presentes. Os sintomas não ocorrem exclusivamente durante estados hipnagógicos ou hipnopômpicos, não são mais bem explicados por outro transtorno mental ou comportamental (p. ex., esquizofrenia), e não se devem a outro transtorno ou doença classificada em outra parte (p. ex., epilepsias com sintomas visuais).

Alcohol-induced psychotic disorder with hallucinations is characterised by the presence of hallucinations that are judged to be the direct consequence of alcohol use. Neither delusions nor other psychotic symptoms are present. The symptoms do not occur exclusively during hypnogogic or hypnopompic states, are not better accounted for by another mental and behavioural disorder (e.g., schizophrenia), and are not due to another disorder or disease classified elsewhere (e.g., epilepsies with visual symptoms).
