Isso ocorre quando a idade normal para o início da puberdade foi ultrapassada sem sinais físicos ou hormonais de que está começando. A puberdade pode demorar vários anos e ainda ocorrer normalmente, caso em que é considerada um atraso constitucional, uma variação do desenvolvimento físico saudável. O atraso da puberdade também pode ocorrer devido à desnutrição, a muitas formas de doenças sistêmicas ou a defeitos do sistema reprodutivo (hipogonadismo) ou da capacidade de resposta do corpo aos hormônios sexuais. | |||||||||||||||
