Carcinoma neuroendócrino originado das células C da glândula tireoide. Está intimamente associado a múltiplas síndromes de neoplasia endócrina. Aproximadamente 10% a 20% dos carcinomas medulares da tireoide são familiares. Os pacientes geralmente apresentam um nódulo da tireoide que é indolor e firme. Na maioria dos casos, o envolvimento nodal/ganglionar está presente no diagnóstico.

Approximately 10% to 20% of medullary thyroid carcinomas are familial. Patients usually present with a thyroid nodule that is painless and firm. In the majority of cases nodal involvement is present at diagnosis.

Approximately 10% to 20% of medullary thyroid carcinomas are familial. Patients usually present with a thyroid nodule that is painless and firm.
