Doença intestinal causada por uma infecção pelo verme parasita Angiostrongylus costaricensis. Esta doença é caracterizada por dor abdominal, febre, náusea ou vômito. Esta doença também pode apresentar obstrução ou perfuração intestinal. A transmissão ocorre pela ingestão de lesmas infectadas mal cozidas ou por alimentos contaminados por lesmas infectadas ou seu lodo. A confirmação é feita pela identificação de Angiostrongylus costaricensis a partir de uma amostra de líquido cefalorraquidiano, de sangue ou de um histórico alimentar. | |||||||||||||||
