+Doença causada por uma infecção pelo verme parasita Necator americanus. Esta doença é caracterizada por prurido no local de penetração larval. Em infecções leves, esta doença pode ser assintomática; em infecções moderadas a graves, essa doença pode se manifestar com tosse, irritação faríngea durante a migração das larvas pelas vias aéreas, anemia por deficiência de ferro, dor abdominal, náusea, artralgia ou atraso no desenvolvimento (mental ou físico). A transmissão ocorre por contato direto com larvas do solo ou areia contaminados com fezes de cachorro ou gato (por migração percutânea de larvas). A confirmação é feita pela identificação de Necator americanus em uma amostra fecal.

A disease caused by an infection with the parasitic worm Necator americanus. This disease is characterised by pruritus at the site of larval penetration.
