Doença ocular, causada por uma infecção de tecido por cistos larvais do verme parasita Taenia solium. Esta doença é caracterizada por cistos que flutuam no humor vítreo do olho, causando comprometimento de visão. A transmissão ocorre por disseminação hematogênica de larvas para o olho após a ingestão de ovos de Taenia solium em alimentos ou água contaminados. A confirmação é comumente feita pela história de viagens a regiões endêmicas do parasita e exames avançados de imagem do olho. | |||||||||||||||

This disease is characterised by cysts floating in the vitreous humour of the eye leading to impaired vision. Transmission is by haematogenous spread of larvae to the eye after ingestion of Taenia solium eggs in contaminated food or water. Confirmation is commonly by history of travel in parasite endemic regions and advanced imaging of the eye. | |||||||||||||||
