Doença causada por uma infecção pelo parasita protozoário Plasmodium falciparum. Esta doença é caracterizada por febre, calafrios, dor de cabeça, mialgia, artralgia, fraqueza, vômitos ou diarreia. Esta doença também pode se manifestar com esplenomegalia, anemia, trombocitopenia, hipoglicemia, disfunção pulmonar ou renal, ou alterações neurológicas. A transmissão ocorre por meio da picada de um mosquito infectado. A confirmação é feita pela identificação de Plasmodium falciparum em uma amostra de sangue. | |||||||||||||||
