Conidobolomicose é uma infecção subcutânea que envolve mucosa nasal e seios paranasais, levando à formação de nódulos subcutâneos firmes ou pólipos. A infecção pode ser adquirida por inalação de esporos ou um pequeno trauma, como uma picada de inseto. O hospedeiro infectado é frequentemente um indivíduo saudável trabalhando ao ar livre em áreas tropicais. Conidiobolomicose pode, no entanto, causar grande desfiguração facial. Em indivíduos com respostas imunológicas prejudicadas podem ocorrer infecções mais invasivas e potencialmente fatais: essas infecções geralmente não estão associadas a lesões cutâneas. | |||||||||||||||

Conidiobolomycosis can, however, cause major facial disfigurement.
