Doença do sistema pulmonar, causada por uma infecção pelo fungo Histoplasma capsulatum. É caracterizada por febre, dores no peito ou tosse seca, não produtiva. A transmissão ocorre por inalação de esporos fúngicos, comumente de solo contaminado ou fezes de morcegos ou pássaros. A confirmação é feita pela identificação do Histoplasma capsulatum em tecido ou líquidos corporais afetados, por detecção de anticorpos contra o Histoplasma capsulatum ou detecção do antígeno de Histoplasma capsulatum. | |||||||||||||||
