+Doença das meninges, causada por uma infecção por adenovírus. Esta doença é caracterizada por febre alta, dor de cabeça, vômito, náusea, rigidez do pescoço, fotofobia, sonolência, erupção cutânea, confusão, convulsões ou perda de consciência. Esta doença pode ser assintomática em adultos mais velhos. A transmissão ocorre por disseminação hematogênica para as meninges. A confirmação é feita pela identificação do adenovírus por punção lombar, por testes de aglutinação ou por reação em cadeia da polimerase.
