Infecção transmitida por carrapatos causada pela espiroqueta Borrelia burgdorferi. A borreliose de Lyme tipicamente se apresenta com erupção cutânea característica, eritema crônico migratório, em média sete dias após a picada de um carrapato infectado. A erupção pode ser acompanhada por sintomas semelhantes aos da gripe. A infecção disseminada pode causar meningite, neuropatias cranianas e cardite, entre outras manifestações. A doença tardia, que ocorre meses a anos após a infecção inicial, pode se manifestar com uma artrite pauciarticular ou com encefalomielite. | |||||||||||||||

The rash may be accompanied by flu-like symptoms. Disseminated infection may cause meningitis, cranial neuropathies and carditis amongst other manifestations.
