Bouba primária resulta da inoculação primária de Treponema pallidum subespécie pertenue na pele, manifestando-se 2-12 semanas mais tarde como uma pápula localizada (inicial, primária ou "bouba mãe") antes de se desenvolver um grande nódulo ulcerativo não doloroso, muitas vezes semelhante a uma framboesa (daí o nome "framboesia"). A lesão primária está mais comumente localizada nas pernas e tornozelos, também pode ser encontrada em nádegas, braços, mãos e rosto. Geralmente cura após 3-6 meses e ainda está presente no início do estágio secundário em apenas uma minoria (9-15%). | |||||||||||||||

The primary lesion is most commonly located on the legs and ankles may also be found on the buttocks, arms, hands, and face.
