As verrugas anogenitais resultam de infecção da pele e mucosas anogenitais por alguns vírus do papiloma humano, mais comumente os subtipos 6,11,16 e 18 do HPV. A transmissão é predominantemente por contato sexual. Elas se manifestam tipicamente como placas achatadas ou protuberâncias papilomatosas queratinizadas na genitália externa e ânus, e região adjacente.
