+A actinomicose cervicofacial é a forma clínica mais comum de actinomicose, um processo inflamatório polimicrobiano endógeno de ocorrência esporádica, no qual os actinomicetos fermentativos dos gêneros Actinomyces (especialmente A. israelii e A. gerencseriae), Propionibacterium e Bifidobacterium atuam como os principais patógenos. A apresentação típica é um desenvolvimento lentamente progressivo de infiltração indolor de tecido e induração dos tecidos moles da face e pescoço até a formação de múltiplos abscessos e drenagem purulenta dos tratos sinusais. A actinomicose é um fator importante e indicador de mau prognóstico na osteorradionecrose infectada da mandíbula após radioterapia de câncer de cabeça e pescoço

The typical presentation is a slowly progressive development from painless tissue infiltration and induration of soft tissues of the face and neck to multiple abscesses and draining sinus tracts discharging pus. Actinomycosis is a major factor and indicator of poor prognosis in infected osteoradionecrosis of the jaws following radiation therapy for head and neck cancer.
