+Doença do trato respiratório superior, causada por uma infecção pela bactéria gram-negativa Bordetella pertussis. Esta doença geralmente se apresenta com tosse paroxística, estridor inspiratório e desmaios ou vômitos após tosse. A transmissão ocorre por inalação de secreções respiratórias infectadas. A confirmação é feita pela identificação de Bordetella pertussis em amostras de nasofaringe ou escarro, ou detecção de anticorpos contra Bordetella pertussis.
