+Doença do trato respiratório superior, causada por uma infecção pela bactéria Gram-negativa Bordetella. Esta doença tipicamente se apresenta com tosse paroxística, estridor inspiratório e desmaios ou vômitos após tosse. A transmissão ocorre por inalação de secreções respiratórias infectadas. A confirmação é feita pela identificação de Bordetella em amostras de nasofaringe ou escarro, ou detecção de anticorpos contra Bordetella.
