+Doença causada por uma infecção pela bactéria gram-negativa Leptospira. Na primeira fase, essa doença é caracterizada por doença generalizada (febre, calafrios ou mialgias) ou os indivíduos podem ser assintomáticos; na segunda fase, o coração, o fígado, os rins ou o cérebro podem ser afetados pela infecção (os sintomas dependem da localização afetada). A transmissão ocorre por ingestão de alimentos ou água contaminados, transmissão por gotículas ou contato cutâneo direto. A confirmação é feita pela identificação de Leptospira em amostras colhidas do indivíduo afetado.
