Kimura disease is a chronic inflammatory disorder of poorly understood aetiology that most commonly presents as painless lymphadenopathy or subcutaneous masses in the head and neck region in young adults: it may cause significant disfigurement. Histologically lymph nodes are infiltrated by dense aggregates of eosinophils, sometimes forming eosinophilic abscesses. The disorder is associated with peripheral eosinophilia and elevated serum IgE. It is associated with nephrotic syndrome in up to 20% of patients.
