Dor miofascial temporomandibular primária crônica é definida como dor orofacial crônica no(s) músculo(s) masseter(es) ou temporal(is) que ocorre por pelo menos 2 horas por dia, em pelo menos 50% dos dias, durante pelo menos três meses. É caracterizada por sofrimento emocional significativo (ansiedade, raiva/frustração ou humor deprimido) ou incapacidade funcional (interferência nas atividades de vida diária e participação reduzida em papéis sociais) e, em particular, de funções orofaciais como comer, bocejar, falar etc. A dor miofascial temporomandibular primária crônica é multifatorial.

Chronic primary temporomandibular myofascial pain is defined as chronic orofacial pain in the masseter or temporalis muscle(s) that occurs for at least 2 hours per day on at least 50% of the days during at least three months. It is characterized by significant emotional distress (anxiety, anger/frustration or depressed mood) or functional disability (interference in daily life activities and reduced participation in social roles) and in particular with orofacial function such as eating, yawning, speaking etc. Chronic primary temporomandibular myofascial pain is multifactorial.
