Cestoides, mais comumente chamados de tênias, são vermes simétricos que parasitam o trato intestinal dos vertebrados. As tênias consistem em uma cabeça (escólex), um pescoço e uma região germinativa que consiste em uma cadeia de segmentos individuais separados que têm um conjunto completo de órgãos reprodutivos em maturação progressiva. O escólex se fixa à mucosa intestinal do hospedeiro e as tênias crescem quando os segmentos brotam do escólex. Cestodes, more commonly called tapeworms, are symmetric flatworms that parasitize the intestinal tract of vertebrates. Tapeworms consist of a head (scolex), a neck, and a germinal region that consists of a string of separate individual segments that have a full set of progressively maturing reproductive organs. The scolex attaches to the host's intestinal mucosa, and tapeworms grow when segments bud from the scolex.
