Angiokeratoma circumscriptum is characterised by aggregates of hyperkeratotic, erythematous to violaceous papules that may later become verrucous and coalesce to form plaques. Females are commonly affected, with the male-to-female ratio being 1:3. It may be either congenital or acquired and although many cases present at birth, some do not develop until childhood or adulthood. Common sites are the leg, foot, thigh and buttock. They may, however, occur elsewhere including on the tongue. Systematized forms are recognised.
