Dermatomyositis with calcinosis is an unusual manifestation in adult patients with dermatomyositis. Calcinosis cutis is manifested by firm, coloured nodules, commonly over bony prominences, that can extrude through the surface of the skin, leading to infections. Calcification of the muscles is generally asymptomatic, although severe forms of calcinosis can cause loss of muscle function.
