Esclerema neonatal é uma condição incomum que tipicamente acomete recém-nascidos prematuros gravemente doentes na primeira semana de vida. Ela se manifesta como um endurecimento difuso da pele e do tecido adiposo subcutâneo, de forma que a pele não pode ser perfurada ou apanhada e comprimida em uma prega. Sclerema neonatorum is an uncommon condition which typically affects gravely ill, preterm neonates in the first week of life. It manifests as a diffuse hardening of skin and subcutaneous adipose tissue such that the skin cannot be pitted or picked up and pinched into a fold.
