Infecção bacteriana do óstio folicular se manifestada como pápulas e pústulas foliculares com eritema perifolicular. Os organismos mais comumente isolados são estafilococos coagulase-negativos e Staphylococcus aureus. A infecção pode ser aguda, mas é mais comumente subaguda ou crônica; as lesões individuais cicatrizam sem deixar cicatrizes.
