Dermatomiosite é uma miopatia inflamatória, que apresenta fraqueza muscular simétrica progressiva, resistência muscular diminuída e manifestações cutâneas como pápulas de Gottron, heliotrópio, sinal do xale, sinal do V e mãos de mecânico. Manifestações em órgãos internos, como pneumonia intersticial (pneumonite) e miocardite podem se desenvolver algumas vezes. Erupções cutâneas podem preceder os sintomas musculares e serem o único sinal clínico de dermatomiosite em alguns pacientes (clinicamente, dermatomiosite amiopática). | |||||||||||||||

Internal organ manifestations such as interstitial pneumonia (pneumonitis) and myocarditis sometimes develop.
