Espectro de transtornos de hipersensibilidade graves e com risco de vida afetando pele e mucosas, mais comumente precipitados por uma reação idiossincrática a medicação. A síndrome de Stevens-Johnson (SSJ) sempre envolve superfícies mucosas, mas o envolvimento da pele está limitado por definição a <10% da área de superfície corporal (ASC). A necrólise epidérmica tóxica (NET) pode às vezes poupar as mucosas, mas o envolvimento da pele é por definição >30% ASC. Uma forma intermediária é reconhecida na qual o envolvimento da mucosa é acompanhado pelo envolvimento de 10-30% ASC da pele (síndrome de sobreposição SSJ_NET). An intermediate form is recognised in which mucosal involvement is accompanied by skin involvement of 10-30% BSA (SJS-TEN overlap syndrome).
