Dermatite seborreica do couro cabeludo é caracterizada por vários graus de descamação, inflamação, exsudação e formação de crostas que afetam o couro cabeludo. Pode ocorrer isoladamente ou pode ser acompanhada de dermatite seborreica de outras localizações. Pode ser difícil de diferenciar da psoríase do couro cabeludo. A pitiríase capitis (caspa) é considerada uma forma leve de dermatite seborreica do couro cabeludo.

Seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp is characterised by varying degrees of scaling, inflammation, exudation and crusting affecting the scalp. It may occur in isolation or may be accompanied by seborrhoeic dermatitis of other sites. It may be difficult to differentiate from scalp psoriasis. Pityriasis capitis (dandruff) is considered to represent a mild form of seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp.
