+Úlcera duodenal é definida como uma ruptura nítida na mucosa duodenal como resultado dos efeitos cáusticos do ácido e da pepsina no lúmen. Histologicamente, a úlcera duodenal é identificada como necrose da mucosa que se estende através da muscular da mucosa alcançando a submucosa. Na visão endoscópica ou radiológica, há uma profundidade apreciável da lesão. Quando a ruptura do revestimento epitelial está confinada à mucosa sem penetrar através da muscular da mucosa, a lesão superficial é chamada de “erosão”.

+Duodenal ulcer is defined as a distinct breach in the mucosa of the duodenum as a result of caustic effects of acid and pepsin in the lumen. Histologically, duodenal ulcer is identified as necrosis of the mucosa extending through the muscularis mucosae into the submucosa. In the endoscopic or radiological view, there is an appreciable depth of the lesion. When the break of epithelial lining is confined to the mucosa without penetrating through the muscularis mucosae, the superficial lesion is called ‘erosion’.

Histologically, duodenal ulcer is identified as necrosis of the mucosa extending through the muscularis mucosae into the submucosa.
