+Infecção piogênica focal aguda, usualmente causada por Staphylococcus aureus, de uma glândula de Meibomius, com bloqueio da secreção normal desta para o folículo piloso. Apresenta-se como um inchaço inflamatório agudo que pode drenar para a superfície conjuntival da pálpebra, ou raramente anteriormente através da pele palpebral. Pode predispor à formação de calázio.

It presents as an acute inflammatory swelling which may discharge onto the conjunctival surface of the eyelid, or rarely anteriorly through the eyelid skin. It may predispose to formation of a chalazion.

A focal acute pyogenic infection, usually by Staphylococcus aureus, of a meibomian gland, the normal secretion from which into the eyelash follicle is blocked. It presents as an acute inflammatory swelling which may discharge onto the conjunctival surface of the eyelid, or rarely anteriorly through the eyelid skin. It may predispose to formation of a chalazion.
