Este é o tumor mesenquimal mais comum que se origina no trato gastrointestinal. Geralmente é imunohistoquimicamente positivo para CD117 (KIT), fenotipicamente em paralelo com a diferenciação de células de Cajal, na maioria dos casos apresentam mutações ativadoras de KIT ou PDGFRA. É mais frequente no estômago e em menor grau no intestino delgado. O prognóstico depende do tamanho do tumor e da atividade mitótica. | |||||||||||||||
