+Infestação por ácaros Demodex. Demodex folliculorum é um ácaro saprofítico da unidade pilossebácea humana com uma predileção por pele facial e cílios. Demodex brevis é encontrado nas glândulas sebáceas do folículo dos cílios e nos lóbulos das glândulas de Meibomius da pálpebra. Embora a infestação seja muito comum e normalmente assintomática, os ácaros têm sido associados à rosácea papulopustular e à blefarite crônica.

Demodex brevis is found in the sebaceous glands of the eyelash follicle and in the lobules of eyelid meibomian glands. Although infestation is very common and normally symptomless, the mites have been linked to papulopustular rosacea and chronic blepharitis.
