Lesão e inflamação hepáticas agudas causada por infecção recente e de curto prazo (menos de 6 meses) pelo vírus da hepatite B (HBV). A transmissão ocorre por contaminação sexual, sanguínea e de fluidos corporais (disseminação parenteral) e da mãe para o bebê no momento do nascimento (transmissão vertical). O diagnóstico é confirmado pela presença de aquisição recente de HBsAg, idealmente com IgM-anti-HBc no soro. As características clínicas, se ocorrerem, são anorexia, náusea e febre, com icterícia em casos graves. | |||||||||||||||
